Big Dipper Features

Internal Strainer

The smaller internal strainer of the grease recovery unit offers a stainless steel solid waste filter basket that requires daily emptying.

Automatic Solids Transfer

The larger unit with automatic solids transfer uses a high pressure water ejection system to eject collected food debris into the drain system after the Big Dipper unit.

Skim and wipe

Both systems use a skimming wheel and wiper mechanism to transfer collected Fats, Oils and Grease (FOG) to the collection container. Larger Big Dipper units for high flow applications utilise twin FOG removal wheels.

Two control options

The Big Dipper has two options available for the control of the FOG removal cycle, a 24-hour multi-event time control unit or a sensor that monitors collected FOG levels and automatically activates and de-activates the removal cycle until the FOG has been harvested.

Heating element option

In commercial kitchens where high volumes of animal fats are present, the Big Dipper grease recovery system can be equipped with a heating element. The heating element will ensure that any solidified fats are liquefied, allowing them to be harvested efficiently.

Choice of sizes

The Internal Strainer model is available in five sizes to suit single to multiple sink applications. For more demanding or multi-kitchen applications the Automatic Solids Transfer unit is available in two sizes, handling a maximum of 7.89 litres per second flow rate with a FOG capacity of 220 litres.
